Keep Discovery Park Quiet

A quiet Aftershock is the law!

Action

Aftershock should use Cal Expo as its venue. The easiest way to achieve this change is to persuade county leaders to reject the producer's permit application. Our leaders need a reminder of what the law says.

  1. The Director of Parks is Liz Bellas. Director Bellas has authority to reject the Aftershock permit application. Contact information: here.
  2. The Sacramento County Executive is David Villanueva. Executive Villaneuva is Director Bellas' supervisor. Contact information: here.
  3. Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna represents South Natomas but lives elsewhere. He has publicly supported Aftershock. Contact information: here.
  4. The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors meet publicly on two Tuesdays in most of the months of the year. In-person comments take place between 9:30 - 10:00 AM. Written comments are accepted and entered into the record. More information: here.

If persuasion isn't achieved, then legal action will be necessary. We will have to hire a lawyer to get a judge to force Director Bellas to follow the law. A fund will be setup for legal expenses. Also, consider donating to offset the publicity costs of this movement. Upon organization dissolution, this fund will be donated to the Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks.

The Articles of Organization are here.

Sacramento County Park's values are askew because the departmental budget is dependent upon private funds. This depedency encourages decisions that conflict with the department's purpose -- to provide recreational opportunities for the region. Abraham Lincoln didn't say government of, by, and for the limited liability company.
